About this blog

The main objective of this blog is to share my experiences in my never-ending quest to make Excel go faster!
Probably I will also share stuff on random things that interest me (but you can always give those a miss).

My main website will continue to be the main repository of information about Excel Calculation.

One major focus for this blog will be development of Excel User Defined Functions (UDFs), using various technologies such as VBA and C++.

  1. Dear Charles,

Love You for starting a blog 🙂

    Here is my wish list.
A Vlookup function which can check
–and return values on the left also,
–2nd or nth value instead of only the 1st matching value.

A Concatenate function which can join values based on
    –ranges instead of cells only
–with a delimiter specified in the formula itself

  2. Charles,
Congratulations on your Blog, it is good that someone with your experience to share their knowledge.

All the best, greetings from Mexico.

Hi Charles. Do you have a comments RSS feed for your blog? i.e. the kind of thing that DDOE has, where you can not only monitor the blog posts but also monitor every comment?

Whoops, didn’t complete my name. That Je should say Jeff Weir

Thanks Dick. I wonder if you could share your secret about how you keep your comments feed free of spam with Mike Alexander…the amount of spam he’s got coming through almosts makes his comments feed unusable. Mind you, some of the spam is almost as funny as his posts.

For instance, here’s one at random:
That is the precise weblog for anyone who wants to seek out out about this topic. You understand so much its virtually onerous to argue with you (not that I truly would need…HaHa). You definitely put a brand new spin on a subject thats been written about for years.

      “virtually onerous”…that is priceless 🙂

      • Agreed. If he’s actually had a legitimate comment in the last few months I haven’t seen it. I use Akismet as almost all WordPress users do. Mike’s probably so busy making money that he doesn’t have time for such administrivia.

      • I think he post all that spam himself, in fact i would not be surprised if all the spam in the world was directly traceable to Mike! …. humm maybe.

Charles, Since I’ve been using the free “Growmap Anti Spambot” plugin my spam dropped to zero. I used to have 500 or so a day. This plugin just asks you to check a small box and verify you are not a spammer before posting and the results far better than Akismet (no false positives).I still keep Akismet as a double protection against the “manual spammers” but it is almost never deeded (a few times a year).
